I just tried MWF for the first time this morning. I too have hard water. And I too didn't have any problems getting a good lather from it.

Yes, of course. The irony is imagining you surrounded by all that luxury, wonder and abundance in such a heavenly setting ... and you without a strop.

Lack of a strop wouldn't be as much of a problem as to be without a decent brush! One can strop on jeans, belts and the palm of one's hand...one can not lather MWF without a brush!

    Almost....
Wait three days then take that puck of MWF to your wet face and
scrub off some soap. Then briskly with two hands massage
you man brush to a fine lather. Add warm water as needed.
For some the feeling is like a new boar brush and for some it is
    like a fine Silvertip.

But a $7.99 Van Der Hagen Natural Shave Brush, 100% Boar Bristle
can be found at a lot of places including Walmart, CVS and depending
on your man brush may or may not work better.

Shave stick soaps were very popular for this very reason. My Dad
used shave stick soaps until he went (Norelco) electric. I recall how
he pealed the foil back bit by bit like a modern foil wrapped burrito.
    YSMV... (Your Shave May Vary).

What I neglected to mention in my fantasy is that I was wearing a heavy three inch Latigo belt at the time of the shipwreck.
The beautiful native women are also very accommodating and resourceful, and after a particular all nighter, and since we are communicating much better in picking up pieces of each other's languages, they told me about the wild boar that roamed the island with luxurious soft hair. They are the islander's main source of meat, and useful for many things.
When I explained the problem, they fashioned a pair of beautiful shave brushes, with a natural adhesive and beautiful bamboo handles..
After I was stropped and shaved with the MWF and beautiful new brushes, a terrible arguement ensued over who would have me in their grass hut that evening... I made peace by offering to stay in three huts that evening...

The rest is just bliss, and we all lived happily everafter!!
