Default No more uberlather for me

I love the scent, glide and overall experience provided by Tabac. I love the moisture, glide and ease of lather (for me) provided by MWF.

So, I may not be getting the best possible lather with using these individual products on their own, but I am enjoying each product more for what it is. Do others feel the same way?
    Ladies and gentlemen:

I fully share Fbones' thoughts on this. "I like enjoying each individual soap or cream for what they are," he points out. I could not agree more.

I tried uberlather for a time, but some months ago I reasoned, as has our good friend Fbones, that I prefer to enjoy each soap or cream for what it is. Of course, water around these parts is relatively well balanced between hard and soft, so that is not problem with me.

I rotate a dozen soaps and half as much in cream varieties. I bought each for its individual qualities. All are high end soaps and creams, and they stand on their own. I don't see the need to spike them.

A Renoir stands on its own quite well. Blending Renoir, therefore, with some commercial poster will detract from the Renoir.

I, therefore, bid farewell to uberlather, unless I end up with low quality soap or cream that needs to be saved. None of my topnotch soaps and creams needs saving.

    Regards,
    Obie

I am the same way. Sometimes on the weekend i will take the extra time and use the scuttle too.

But I prefer to face lather anyway and MWF by itself leaves my skin feeling good enough to skip the aftershave if I didnt like using it.

I'm going to go ahead and show my stupidity and lack of knowledge here... Don't worry, I'm used to it!

Who is Al?? And, where can I find his products??

I'd like to try some, too!

Al is a member here who makes a great shave cream with truly unique scents:

It is interesting to read these responses regarding uberlather. I never thought about the water issue. I guess I have good water because I can get my MWF fluffy and creamy in seconds.

    Hi Bill,
After you read the link above (about Al's cremes) and if you're interested, send Al a PM (that's the only way I know of) to reach him...Al's very good at responding to all questions you may have.

I have a water softner, so I really don't need to. Most of the soaps do fine on their own However, I have a couple that benefit from Uberlater...

P.S. Al's creams are "Da Bomb".....

I used to be gung ho for uberlather. As my skill at creating lather from various shaving soaps and creams improved, though, I find that I am quite satisfied with a superlather or using just one shave soap or cream in the morning.

I whip up überlather every once in a while, and probably will continue to do so. It's really no extra work, but I get great performance from my regulars, so why mess with perfection?

I completely agree with the "appreciate the product for what it is" moral of this story, but sometimes uberlather is a good way of increasing the potential of an otherwise underperforming product.

Or that may just be me rationalizing why I don't throw anything out....
