Old Spice any good?
I was just wondering if the Old Spice shaving cream (in a tube) is a good shaving cream to purchase?

I use it fairly regularly and think it's good, but maybe not great. But, I'm partial to soaps as opposed to creams.

Thanked: 8Hello gentleman, look at your beard, now back to mine, now back at your beard, now back to mine! Sadly, it isn't mine, but if you stopped using lady's scented shaving creams and switch to Old Spice, you could shave like you're me. Look down, back up, where are you? You're in a barbershop with the beard your beard could smell like. What's in your hand? Back at me, I have it; it's an oyster with two Dovo razors that you love, look again, the razors ARE NOW DIAMONDS. Anything is possible when your beard smells like Old Spice and not a lady, I'm on a horse.

Old Spice is the only aftershave I use. And the deodorant as well. I had too many perfumes and lotions (that people gave me) and stuff and was starting to feel that I needed to "frugalize" my life. One day I decided to buy Old Spice and was hooked! The smell lasts a lot of time and isn't imposing - its only good and manly! The deodorant is the only one that works on my smelly armpits...
So... yes. It is good and I like it!
As a side note: today my Dad called me because he's coming over to visit me in a few days and I asked him to bring me some Old Spice deodorant and aftershave. His reaction was funny! He said "you... use... that?!..." You see, my Dad is one of those heretics that use goo-in-a-can and those so-called razors that have 15 blades and lasers and batteries that make the thing vibrate. He always trembles when I speak of my shaving methods...One day... I'll teach my Dad how to shave!...

Thanked: 43I have a couple of tubes of Old Spice and Old Spice Lime creams and here's my take.
The Old Spice in the tube smells nothing like Old Spice aftershave, original or new formula. Once it's whipped into a lather it smells a little more like the Old Spice we are used to, but still not really. The shave it gives is alright, certainly better than canned goo, but not the best. It's not very slick, but very cushiony. It is a very easy cream to whip into a lather. My skin feels pretty good after a shave. All in all I think it's worth the price you pay for it.
Old Spice Lime is ditto for the above except, of course, for the lime scent. It's a scent that's somewhere between candy limes and a lemon scented furniture polish. It's not a really bad scent, however it's not one I ran to have my wife smell either. It's not a fragrance I think about in the shower before I shave.
As I said, I think they are worth the price you pay. I'm traveling to Oregon in a few days and I'm packing one of the tubes because they so fit nicely in my Dopp Kit.Last edited by joscobo; 09-14-2010 at 07:54 PM.
