mixing soaps... not uber or super.. megalather?
wondering if anyone does this? i'm currently in northern california and my lovely soaptopia soaps that once produced great lather are no longer performing.. but still wanting to take advantage of the nice scent and slick shave.. i somehow decided to load up my brush with MWF and then move over to the soaptopia puck.. seems to have worked quite nicely.. anyone else ever try this?

Thanked: 1195Victor, what is it that makes you think that the soap is not performing any more? Is it really old or previously stored poorly?

soaptopia soaps are an inexpensive glycerin based soap i found awhile ago.. virtually everyone had a hard time with them.. with the exception of me.. they lathered quite well.. but i'm now away from home and they won't lather up with the water i'm now using.. i could add a squirt of kiss my face cream.. but i decided to try bulking it up with another soap.. i seem to like it so far..

Thanked: 1195Thanks for the clarification.
I can't really offer an opinion on "doubling up" soaps. For my personal collection if a soap doesn't perform it doesn't see much, if any, use. In other words it should stand well on its own, although I have more than a few so I can afford to be choosy

i agree... i have other soaps which are much better.. but soaptopia has the most enjoyable scent and are much slicker than my other soaps.. on the other hand.. i'm planning a trip to dunsmuir, ca.. which supposedly has the world's best water.. we'll see how they lather there.

Thanked: 443Probably water
I bet you're dealing with hard water. I grew up in the midwest (limestone bedrock=water that could chip your teeth) so pay attention to my local aquifer. Try using distilled or reverse osmosis water instead of the tap stuff.
Good luck!

I have a water softner, and normally don't have any trouble building lather, but there is one soap that gives me a hard time....
I don't think I've ever mixed soaps together...If I'm using a flat soap, I normally uber it, Kiss my face, some glycerin...stuff like that...
I like Glen's MWF+Musgo Real+ 5 drops of Glycerin...That's awesome...We have assumed control !
