Default Bay Rum lovers should try this!

The postman brought an order to my door today from SRD. I ordered their "West Indies Bay" shaving soap and "Bulldog" mug.

Since this is the soap and cream part of the forum, I'll concentrate on that. First, it's a clear amber color. So clear, that you can see the bottom of the tub clearly. But, the scent! WOW!!! Light, fresh, spicy, and clean. Just the slightest tingle to the nose. I can't wait to try it tomorrow morning.

    Wayne,

Sounds like a winner. Let us know how it shaves when you try it.

I've used their unscented shaving soap and like it, but I will post a report.

When my wife was in the islands last year she brought me back a bottle of "Sneads" which is made down there. It comes on a spray bottle with a bay leaf in it. Very nice stuff. They have a web site and you can order the stuff directly. it contains a generous amount of real rum.

I gave it a test drive this morning. Not following my usual practice, I used a Fendrihan badger brush and made lather in my new SRD "Bulldog" mug. Razor-wise, I chose a Simmons Hardware "Keen Kutter" with a slightly larger than 6/8 barber notched blade. The lather is thick and super-rich. Excellent lubricity and it stayed moist for a long period. I did dip the tip of the brush into the sink to add moisture before each lathering before the XTG and ATG passes. The bay scent stayed around nicely, but not in an overpowering way. A cold water rinse followed by Dominica Bay Rum topped it off nicely.

Excellent soap, great value, wonderful scent.

I have several SRD soaps and they are all great. The West Indies Bay is pure heaven. Nice clean, spicy heaven.

They also sell what they call authentic British grog. For drinking of course.
