Default How long does shave soap last?

I was wondering this today. Thinking if it would last as long as aerosol shave cream.

Do you mean on your face or in it's package?

Guess I should have explained better. I ment how many uses will you get out of a bar. How many shaves can you get from one.

A cake of Williams (Walmart - $0.89) used every day can last a month. Some of the more pricey hard-milled soaps can last much longer depending on frequency of use. (I have some Crabtree-Evelyn sandalwood soap in wood bowl still good after around 10 years. Of course I don't use it every day though).
No propellant to run out of, nothing wasted in the can, no can to add to a landfill.

I never did 3 passes when I was using Edge Gel, but if I had to hazard a guess, I would say that a hard soap would last longer than a can. The softer soaps with higher glycerine content tend to wear a little quicker, but still last a good long time.

How long it lasts may depend on your technique too. I wore through my first few cakes rather quickly because I was lathering start to finish in the mug. Now I load the bristles and switch to a bowl for getting the lather up, which takes some of the wear away from the soap cake.

    Default Another perspective

Unfortunately, all of my soaps and creams last WAAAAY TOOOO LOOONG! Given all of the great choices out there, how am I ever going to sample them all when a cake of soap last 60+ shaves and a tub of cream nearly 100?

A 150g Trumpers soap will last me 10 about months, a trumpers 200g cream will last about 8 months.

I don't really know....I've been doing the brush and soap thing only for a month or 3 now and haven't used up a single one yet....and that includes any of Colleen's sample soaps.

Wow, this is good news. I thought it might last like 1 month or around 10 to 15 shaves. Was I way off.

Also I am curious, can shave soaps be used with a regular disposable razor? I shave me head also and until I get confident with the straight on my face i'll use the disposable on the nog. I wouldn't think there would be a problem but you never know.

Absolutely. Better pre-shave prep will help you get a better shave whether you're using a straight, DE, or cartridge razors.
