Thread: why soap or cream

I am new the the forum . Why use shaving soap or shaving cream?I saw on you tube a guy mixed both why? thank you

I'm a bit confused by your question. Do you mean to ask why we use shaving soaps/creams at all, or why use them instead of canned foam?

first.. welcome to the forums..

i'm surprised we have yet to make this a sticky as it's been discussed several times in the past...

basically.. people use different types of product for different reasons.. soap is said to provide more glide.. while creams are thought to provide more cushion... mixing the two would provide both..

simply experiment.. you'll find the right combo.

And as for canned gels/foams, stay the Hell away from them. They may work for a cartridge razor (and that's even questionable), but won't provide you with what you need for a good SR shave.

And besides that...........Lard or butter doesn't work too well,especially in the summer .
