Thanked: 194I find this is the best possible thing to do with any hard soap....it just makes for a much thicker and creamier lather.....plus you can form it into any bowl or mug you want
shayne.

Thats it. Grate it up and push it into a bowl or mug. Most people do this for a couple reasons. 1 its easier than a double boiler method and safer than microwaving it. and 2 It created a better lather(at least i think so)

I did the same with MWF before I actually bought their expensive ceramic dish.
I used a very fine paddle cheese grater, and it was very easy to mold afterwards.
Glycerin, or the clear looking soaps can be microwaved gently, and poured
Tallow based, or the white looking soaps need to be grated.....We have assumed control !

it's my understanding that microwaving soaps with essential oils can easily kill off scents.. you really have to use very short bursts to avoid damaging your soaps.. and you never want to microwave tallow based soaps..
with that said.. grating is the easiest method.. .

Thanked: 1185I've been a cheese grater advocate for years. I've grated a whole bunch of soap pucks to fit them into various containers and never had a problem. Reduce pucks to shavings, press them into the desired container and simply lather as normal. After a few latherings, the soap shavings will be smoothed out and the soap will look like it was milled into container X at the factory.
The older I get, the better I was

Better in a bowl?
Does grating MWF make it lather better in a bowl or is face lathering still the way to go?

facelathering is recommended for mwf.. most recommend it anyway.. just seems to work better that way.
