Thumbs down Lather disappearing on me...??

Gentlemen, I recently bought a tube of Taylors Of Old Bond Street cream and this stuff is long gone by my second pass. I have tried making a drier lather with it, a wetter lather, more cream, less cream... No matter what I do, there is not enough lather left in my bowl for a good creamy second pass. The water, brush and other "factors" are exactly the same as they are when I make beautiful soft mountains of lather with other products. Has anyone run into this issue? Any suggestions? I don't know what to do next with this stuff. I really dislike shaving with sub par lather so I have been going back to my other favorites.

is your brush eating it? i recently purchased a 2-band new forest brush and it seems like i have to use half a tablespoon of cream in order to get through a single pass..

I am not really sure if the brush is hogging it or not. I used my Vulfix Super Badger which is soft and floppy but it is usually a perfect match for creams. I did some testing to make sure I wasn't going crazy and prepared some of my DR Harris cream from the tub and bam, thick lather that I let sit in the bowl for 5-10 minutes and none of it broke down at all. It's almost as if the lather literally breaks down to nothing in a few minutes with the TOBS. Too weird...

Yes, I used the same amount as the others plus tried using a hefty amount which, resulted in a good thick first pass. Once again, not much left for even a second pass. Usually I can get enough for 3+ passes from other products.

Maybe you got a bad tube. I got a bad tub of TOBS Avacado. It seperated right after I got it. The vendor replaced it for me. I use TOBS Avacado and Rose shave cream from the tubs, not tubes, and have never had any problems. Too much heat will make lather disapate, but your not having trouble with any others, so, it's got to be the TOBS tube...Try to get some samples of other TOBS Creams....

Interestingly, I'm having the same problem with my tin of Saint Charles Shave New Spice cream. If I don't start shaving w/ it immediately, it starts breaking down both on my face and in the bowl. I'm also at a loss

In the past I've used some Taylors cream and my personal view is it is not at the same level as the other English soaps.

    Hi Jeremy,

I noticed the same thing with my tub of TOBS Jermyn St. What I also noticed was that on a trip to NYC the lather improved dramatically. I think it is very sensitive to water hardness. Too bad I dont have soft water at home.
