Nivea shave cream
I was at the Shoppers Drug mart by my house and noticed a blue tube of Nivea shave cream. I was wondering if anyone has tried this particular cream and what they think.

I've never had experiance with the Shaving Cream, but I have gone through 3 bottles of their after shave Balm for sensitive skin, like it very much, hope in some small way that helps.
Have a great week/end, tinkersd of SRP

I have only ever seen Nivea sold as foam/gel in pressurized tins. Do you mean this cream you found is in a tube?
I have never quite got to the bottom of why, if a shaving cream is in a jar or a tube, then it is perfectly acceptable, but put the same in an aerosol and inject a simple propellant through the valve, and it automatically gets redesignated as "gunk".
Take Palmolive for example. Really good soap stick and the same goes for their tube cream; mix them together, even better. But we're led to believe the company leaves its brains on the back step when the put their aloe vera concoction in an aerosol.
The real problem with these formulations for me speaking personally, is that they tend to be way too over-cushioned for use with a straight razor. But having said that, I sometimes, especially in the summer, have added a little gel to the bowl of an otherwise plain shave soap, the same as you would add a drip of glycerin, and it has stopped the soap drying out on the face very well indeed.

I've tried the Nivea shave cream in the tube. I didn't like it at all. It was flat, didn't lather well. I use their After Shave Balm, I think it's great. I usually mix it 50/50 with T&H 1805 AS Balm. Now, there are some great shave creams in tubes, Tabac, Truefitt and Hill, and Spieck come to mind. There are other good one's too, I can't think of them. Tubes are usually more economical.

Hmm. I have a can of pressurized foaming gel someone gave me that I'm not using. I think I'll try it with some J.B. Williams. It's a funny thing, Williams. Their advertisement "Long Lasting Lather" doesn't really apply to the most recent formula. How about "Really Slick Slickness"? Or "Crappy Lather/Softer Skin"?
Don't worry about it too much, teemus. I like the Nivea aftershave balms too. I have the "Energy" line "Soothing" or something, and the "Sensitive" line extra-soothing sans alcohol (my energy molecule of choice which saddens my part-Swedish skin cells). That doesn't mean that Nivea will deliver a similar quality product for the shaving stuff. I was disappointed with the Neutergena shave cream, but really enjoy the post-shave lotion and triple-protect (that's a smart product).

Yeah, I use the sensitive nivea after shave balm and it works great. I was kinda surprised by the tube cream and figured I'd ask around and see if anybody had used it. The drug store by my house carries the nivea cream and the Real Shaving Co. cream. I think I'll pass on the nivea.

I have a few tubes of Nivea shaving cream and would recommend it. It lathers beautifuly, provides great glide and ample cushion. The scent might not be as nice as some but at $4 a tube at Shoppers it can't be beat. I would also suggest picking up a Tube of The Real Shaving Co. cream. It is made by Creighton's, makers of high end English creams such as Truefitt and Hill and a really good cream.

I put 6 bucks into a tube for a trip (using a straight razor). It did not work at all! It may be for multi blades or DE's ???? Now, I put a mug, brush, and soap in a freezer bag, and go with it!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
