Default Gonna rock the William's boat here...

I've always avoided the stuff since MWF and DR Harris always suited me just fine, but while picking up some Florida Water and candies at the local CVS store, I figured, 'why not'. Ya know, I've always read the posts here that absolutely bashed the stuff, but I gotta tell you it lathered up just as fast and generous as either of the two standbys. I guess I have been chosen.

I think you should take all that overrated MWF and Dr Harris and send them to me. You can just use the Williams from now on.

Williams is definitely affected by the dKh of your water, and likes cooler lather temps, but it really is a solid soap. I find its scent to be less attractive, but the lather better than many of the artisanal glycerin soaps.

i think williams gets a bad rep cause most people just don't know how to use it.. it's a soap that requires work to build a lather.. it's by no means a bad lather.. it's just boring.. that's all.

Mediocre soap with a great scent that can be had for under $1.50.

I really like Williams, but I would never go as far as to refer to it as anything beyond a mediocre soap. I have other soaps that perform much better, but I really like the smell of Williams, and it works good enough for what it's supposed to do.

I've never tried Williams soap, but being one who drifts in a sea of mediocrity, I suppose I ought to give it a try. Now, were Williams to make a cream, that could place them smack dab center on the lone island in Mediocre Sea. I can't wait.

    Gentlemen:

Yes, I tried Williams soap a long time ago. It lathered well enough for me and the fragrance was pleasant, but then I moved on to what I consider far superior soaps. Now and then I feel I should buy a puck of Williams for remembrance, but then, with so many superb soaps out there, I say why bother? It's not worth it to me.

    Regards,

    Obie

I tried Williams a long time ago and couldn't get it to work for me.

Last week I decided to give it a go again. Wow! I was impressed. Very nice lather and it was pretty easy to lather up. I also like the scent.

Why the difference in experiences? I moved to a different state in between Williams tries. The water quality could account for the positive experience this time around. Another possibility is that I'm significantly more experienced this time around too.

There are better alternatives out there, though.

I have used it for years and just got a tub of Cella to try a week or two ago. I like the Cella a lot, particularly the smell and the cushiony feel, but the extra conditioning was starting to make my face a little oily (I have naturally oily skin), so I used the Williams for yesterday's shave and it was noticeably easier to get a closer shave with it than with the Cella - each pass seemed to lop the hairs off a bit closer to the skin and the tough spots on my neck were shaved quite easily. Go figure.
