Default Ice Cream Maker for making Hot Lather - Anyone Tried

I was eating a bowl of ice-cream and I noticed that the consistency of the melted cream at the bottom of my bowl was similar to the lather I whip up with a brush when shaving. I then remembered that ice-cream gets made in a similar way, by having air bubbles forced into it with the churn.

I got the rather amusing idea of using an ice-cream machine or something similar but scaled down (with hot water traded out for the ice bath) and churning a bit of TOBS instead, to see how much said smidgen would grow. You know how all of the English creams claim to be able to produce "mounds of lather?" I'm curious just how many mounds.

Has anyone tried anything like this? Maybe I'll do this sometime and post the results if I get board.

in addition to a larger electric ice cream maker.. i also own a smaller cheesy held operated one.. i'll give it a try and see what happens.. i imagine it'll work just fine for creating a giant mess o' lather.. that is pretty much what a lather machine does anyway..

yea, and instead of hot lather you will get ice cold part frozen lather. Now how sexy is that?

When i first started this journey I started making a lather machine out of an old electric teapot and a foaming soap dispenser. I had a working prototype and quickly realized that i prefer the process of lathering in a scuttle with a brush.

i already know i prefer to facelather.. but i like to run experiments.. my hand held mixer has a water filled metal lining that you freeze to keep things cold.. perhaps i'll soak it in how water for a bit before mixing up a giant batch of lather.. i'm guessing a tablespoon of tobs and 2 cups of water should do the trick.

All I can picture here is the scene I have seen in a couple movies where some kid uses dishwashing liquid soap in the dishwasher, which promptly fills the kitchen with suds.

LOL, me too! What about a stick blender? You can turn milk into butter with one of those things pretty quick if you aren't careful! My wife is going to freak when she sees me try it....
