Default Ordered some soaps from Mamma Bears!!!!

    Hello,

This straight razor thing is getting expensive! I've always used Barbasol because its what my dad used and its cheap. Now that Im getting into the art of straight razor shaving it wouldnt be right if I didn't buy some proper shaving soap. It seemed that everyone agreed that Mamma Bears is a good quality soap at a great price. I went to their site and was shocked at all the fragrance/scents they had! Mamma has 8 different categories that they are divided into: Everyday Favorites, Men's Cologne Favorites, Mentholated Soaps, Fresh Florals, Seasonal And Holiday Favorites, 100% Natural EO Only, Women's Cologne Favorites, and Novelty Soaps. I counted a total of 140 different fragrances! That doesn't include the 18 shave sticks they make. I read every single description and couldn't just pick one but didnt want to spend $50+ and only get 4 fragrances. But wait... Mamma has sampler packs available! I went with the "Sample Pack 6, Everyday Favorites Shave Soap Samples". It has 18 different shave soaps in it and only cost $14.99 I ordered it today at 1am and they shipped it about an hour ago. Im going to do a review on all 18 soaps from the perspective of a virgin straight razor user. I cant wait to try them out!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the help guys,

    Chris

Cool, good luck Chris. I am in the same position but haven't had the guts to make an order yet.

It is hard to choose, and not just with Mama Bears. Soaps and Creams really have their own Acquisition Disorder, Just ask me or Obie. I think at last count, I had 10 tubs of Mama Bears alone...Some are over two, possibly three years old, and haven't lost any kick.

    Chris,

I too ordered from Mama Bears recently. It's great quality soap for a really good price. I don't want to be a "doomsayer" but I hope from a customer service perspective, that you have a better experience then I did.

I placed an order for myself for shave soaps and I ordered many bath soaps for my wife. The order totaled over $100, which to me, is a fair amount of money. Especially for a first order. The order arrived and as it looked through it with great expectations, I was disappointed to see that my order was not complete. My bill, of course, reflected the whole order with no mention of a back order etc. I called them three times and left messages over the course of a week and never was called back. My wife noticed that our pay pal account had been credited for the two soaps that we were shorted, but no e-mail, no call back... To say the least I was a bit let down after hearing all the great customer service stories from our fellow SRP patrons.

If they had bothered to call me or drop me an e-mail I'd be a customer for life because their products really do rock. Let's hope mine was an isolated incident and perhaps it was just one instance of communication falling through the cracks.

Best of luck from another nube...

I just got my first tub of Mama Bear's soap, their version of bay rum. I've got to admit, it's not what I thought it would be in the scent department.

Dominica Bay Rum is very bay-scented. Ogallala bay rum leans to the cinnamon/clove side. This is almost floral. I'll give it this, it cushions and lubricates as well as any of the top soaps on the market now.

How long ago was this? The reason I ask is because her house (which means her business, too), burned down in February. You're right to expect communication, but sometimes life happens, and she's not a corporation. I've gotten very prompt responses to all my communications with her.

Well I can't wait till I get some more mama bear soap. When I had some I shaved alot just for the pleasure of the scent. Now that I'm out and back using my old workhorse VDH soap, I'm finding that I just don't want to shave as much anymore. Heck I'm sporting a beard at the moment.
I think I'm gonna try out the shave sticks next.

do not think you will be disappointed.
I now have 11 of her shaving soap and I love each.
The smell is most excellent, and the best part is how often you use them the better to smell the different smells.

    Captain,

This was about a month and a half ago. As I said, I'm sure it's an isolated incident since virtually everyone else have said the service is great. I'm over it. The soap is great!
