I've found no difference either, One thing I like about the tube, beside travel, is trying creams I'm unsure of. If you don't like it, your not stuck with a tub.

I fail to notice any difference.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

They're both the same from what I've noticed but I lean to soaps more often myself so maybe I just didn't pay much attention comparing awesome shave to super awesome shave.

I've found no difference in performance, but at the same time I have a tub of TOBS avocado that is closer to a croap, and a tube of TOBS rose that is a typical cream

Thanked: 485I can't comment on the actual question; I've never had the same cream in a tube AND a tub (I'm still SUCH a newbie!), however, I noticed today by Body Shop Macca Root cream (in a tub) is looking very dry and odd coloured after almost six months. It does get very hot in my bathroom, and the creams have yet to actually experience real summer heat (upwards of 47 degrees celcius). I also prefer tubes as I can just squeeze the right amount into the bowl, whereas with a tub I normally dip my litle finger in to scoop some out, and then have to wipe the finger on the brush. Generally I also end up scooping TOO much out...
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 19The tubes are clearly inferior. Please send them to me immediately. I would hate for any of you to have a less than perfect experience with them. Yes, I care that much about every single one of you.

The shavecream tubes I've bought and later also bought the tub versions were ALL CLEARLY INFERIOR to the tub versions.
My argument is that all the tub/pot ShaveCreams I've liked all were pretty stiff/solid almost croap like in substance. The softest creams in tubs I've owned are Truefitt&Hill, TOBS and AOS and they rank lowest among my fav ShaveCreams.
All the tubes were liquid like and under-performers.
Here are my observations:
Penhaligon Blenheims Bouquet ShaveCream
Tub version: More dense and solid, while still soft. Better lather quality.
Tube version: Thinner more runny version, had to shake the tube after 2-3 weeks or it would run out of the tube and not having to be squeezed out. Inferior lather quality.
Bought 2 tubes from 2 different vendors, same experience.
Acca Kappa 1869 ShaveCream
Tub version: Arguably the best ShaveCream in the world if you take price into consideration. My personal favorite cream and I own Santa Maria Novella, Castle Forbes Lime/Lavender, Acqua Di Parma Tub & several Fitjar. Fantastic cream.
Tube version: Different scent, inferior lather & a far less great ShaveCream.
Truefitt&Hill Ultimate Comfort ShaveCream
Tub version: Pretty soft cream, but not runny liquid like. Exceptional good ShaveCream. Wonderful lather and wonderful shave.
Tube version: Again more liquid like in substance. Inferior product IMHO.
I've only owned these 3 in both tub and tube version and I'll never buy a tube again. Also prefer to dip my brush in a tub (no pun intended) !!

Thanked: 1195Thanks for the other side, CHSeifert.
This has not been my experience, but it sounds like you have ample reason to believe what you do.

Just a question...I have a tub of AoS sandalwood and a travel tube. The tub is considerably firmer, but it wasn't always...it dried out a bit vs the tube over time...to the previous poster, was this right out of the gate you noticed the variances or was this over time?
