    Default ARKO shave stick

Watched a video review at shavenation.com that used an ARKO shave stick and was stunned by the lather created in less than favourable conditions. I looked around for other reviews and all seem to praise the latherability and price. the only negative I have found is someone displeased with the smell. can anyone coment on it before I send away for some?

I have extremely hard water and the Arko stick is one of the few soaps that will give me a nice, thick merangue type lather. As far as the scent goes I happen to love it. It has a very clean citrusy scent. Some people liken it to disinfectant or urinal cakes but I just don't see it. It is well worth ordering one or more of the sticks, especially at the price.

The Arko shave stick, at its price point, is very tough to beat. It produces some of the best lather around and the stick will last you for eternity. The shaves are top notch with the glide it provides. I think it smells like Dove soap which isn't bad but not a luxurious smell either. I have several sticks on hand. PM me and I can send you one if you want to try it out.

I can beat the arko shave stick price, 50p for the palmolive stick! about 70 cents roughly. Both are great when used with other soaps

As the other has replied, for its price, the performance is good.
The scent however is not for anyone.
For me it compares to a busy Parisian public toilet.

The scent fades completely if it is unwrapped for a few months. I actually like the scent, but it is rediclously strong ( it lingered on my face all day when I sued a fresh stick).

@moorefield- i have seen the same reviews: good lather, cheap price, but the lemon scent is not as nice as other scented soaps. I actually placed an order for some arko sticks 3 days ago and should get them in the mail sometime this week. I will try to come back in this thread and give my opinion.

    Gentlemen:
Yes, Arko is a fine soap for the money. The lather is good. So is the cushion. The fragrance seems to be plus or minus: some like it and some don't. I do.

It is okay for a stick. I defenitely would't get it mixed up with MWFS.... I need a lot of water when mixing and a drop of glycerine to make it work..

    meh.

the lather was ok...not as good as the art of shaving's shaving cream or the other shaving cream I use (anthony's logistic)..i didnt get enough cushion..even though i lathered it up for a good couple of minutes..but that could be due to the water here in our city.

the price is very cheap...i bought my Arko from tulumba...ordered them on Friday evening and got them on Monday afternoon...they shipped them here to me in california from brooklyn, new york, and the more you buy, the cheaper it is.

s&h for me cost more because im here on the west coast, so for me the prices were as follows (including s&h):

    1 arko = $5.72 ea.
    2 arkos = $8.25 ($4.12 ea.)
    3 arkos = $11.35 ($3.78 ea.)
    4 arkos = $13.40 ($3.35 ea.)

    etc. etc.

but on tulumba if you buy $25 worth of stuff, shipping is free (same kind of deals on amazon)...but i just wanted to try out a couple of sticks and since i didnt want to buy 12-15 sticks just to sample arko, i bought 2...which only came out to $8.25..not a bad price just to sample Arko.

the scent didn't bother me at all...its not the best scent, and not the worst.

if anything, its good to have these Arkos on hand for traveling, or just to give you more of a variety with your soaps...or you can do like others do and mix arko with other soaps and see what works best for you.

would i buy more Arko? yes and no.....yes, because its cheap and according to reviews one stick can last a long long time, but no because i'd rather put my money towards trying out other soaps, creams, sticks etc as well.
