Thread: Best performance to price ratio: soap and/or cream?

I certainly haven't tried a bunch of soaps or creams, but I've tried a few. For the money, I think Proraso soaps and cream, for me, are outstanding. Just curious about some others "less expensive" favorites.

I'll agree that Proraso is good bang for your buck, but these days I prefer Speick - great scent, great performance, great price. Highly recommended.

You can get a dozen Arko sticks shipped through Amazon for $20. In terms of sheer quantity and shaving performance, that's a tough bargain to beat. Opinions do vary on the fragrance, however.

whichever brand you choose I think you should definitely stick with hard soaps, in my limited experience they have lasted much longer than the creams i've used.

see I love Speick, but I cant get it to perform well on its own. Always dry's out. But for Uberlather....mmmmm fantastic! Speick and Mammabears northwoods....heaven

I do find that there's a fine line with Speick, where it may be on the dry side but if you add too much water it can become very runny in short order. The trick I find is to add water VERY slowly until you get your desired consistency. It probably doesn't help that we both live in very dry climates (or at least I assume that it's dry in Arizona, as I've never been there....).

Ya, you could say we are a little dry here in AZ.....lol

Proraso was my number 1 soap for two years...then I found MWF. $13 for a puck on ebay shipped. Can't beat it in my opinion

Personal Care Extra Thick Shaving Cream from Canada. I spent $8 for eight 16 oz cans and they have lasted me 6 years. And I still have two unopened cans left. Beat that one for value.

Unfortunately, no other aerosol canned shaving cream that I have tried even comes close, and I haven't been able to locate any more of it. So when this is gone, I'll probably have to go back to spending millions of dollars on puck soap once again and get out my Vulfix Super Badger brush. But I'm fighting it.
