I'm betting cheap in price but not cheap in performance is what Matt69 meant. To that I would have to agree too.

I got a couple sticks of Arko primarily for using with my Parker travel razor when I'm on the road, but I've started using it semi-regularly when I'm really pressed for time and need that extra minute where I don't have to load the brush on my soap pucks, and I'm surprised how nice of a shave it is, especially for the price. I just wet my face and apply the stick and then take the brush to the face and it seems to build a nice lather just fine and have enough for a couple good passes. Definitely worth having some of this stuff, I'd say, if anything for the travel bag since it's so handy.

arko is pretty nice stuff. I really don't understand the controversy over the scent. Urinal cake is a bit of a radical description for the scent. More like soapy Pez scent to me. I left mine open in a bowl and after a week, the scent has nearly disappeared. Actually disappointed over this. I like it strong.

Well y'all have convinced me to add some Arko to my next order. A year or so ago I got a La Toja stick, (great stuff) and the face-lathering went better than I thought it would. In fact nowadays I usually face-lather all of my soaps. (still lather the creams in a bowl) I've heard a lot of people describe the scent of the Williams pucks exactly the same way they the describe the scent of Arko. Are they similar, scent wise?

I ended up preferring it pressed into a bowl, still loads super easy with a wet brush.

I haven't really noticed this, but I also have a rather large collection and don't get to use it too often. Perhaps your experience is noteworthy and will help someone.
Funny how even though I like certain high end soaps and find myself using them most often, whenever I use my dish of arko, I'm always pleased with my shave.

I don't personally think the scents are similar. I've never tried la troja, but I'm sure you'll enjoy your new arko.

Yea, each to their own. I can't stand the almond smell of some Italian soaps I have tried.

Just tried it - massive thumbs up for the lather, not keen on the scent. But, from a value-for-money perspective, fantastic.

I LOVE it! I'm pretty sure I can work up a lather easier with Arko than almost anything else (and unlike many, I love the scent).

What do you guys think about it?
