Williams explosion!
I have a new Semogue 610 boar brush that I am breaking in (picked it up for traveling this summer and beyond), so today I brought out the very famliar and old staple Williams Mug Shaving Soap. I generally use some fine shaving creams on a daily basis, including those from AOS, Truefitt & Hill (just got this one and like it), C.O. Bigelow, Nancy Boy, and Spencer & Devon (also new to me), and they all lather up like they're supposed to with a fine badger brush.
So, I soaked the boar brush in hot water for a few minutes, then took it straight to the mug without letting any water out, and started swirling and ... BOOM! Withing 30 seconds, the mug was filled with a very thick and creamy lather. I went ahead and face lathered, dipping the brush in hot water a couple of times, and a had an incredible lather on my face. I was really surprised and very impressed. I think i will stick with Williams during this break-in period. If anything, the Williams and boar brush combo reminds me of my dad shaving when I was a youngster. I am learning Williams is good stuff when lathered correctly.

Williams explosion sounds like an oxymoron. We all want to see the evidence sir. Post a photo and I'll eat the soap.

Thanked: 88I planned to respond in a serious way, but now I just want to make thebigspendur eat a puck of Williams. Enough to go whip up some Williams and take a picture? No, not at the moment.
I use Williams regularly, btw.

Thanked: 522The bigspendur eats more than soap on occasion. I believe he is partial to hamburgers and IMR 4350.

Once you add the required amount of water Williams will lather as good as some more expensive brands. Adding a few drops of glycerine helps too. It also works well for cleaning and conditioning strops or lathering a barber hone for touch ups. A puck of Williams comes in handy and it is very inexpensive.

Here you go. I did not release any water from the soaked brush. 29 second swirl time, approx 30 second lather time in the palm of my hand. Result, a thick and creamy lather that made a nice cushion when painted onto my palm similar to that made by quality creams. Enjoy the Williams!

I'll have to give this a go. Do you have any silver tip badger to experiment with? Boar irritates my face too much.

I haven't tried shaving my hands yet. I'll have to give it a shot.
