Don't be fooled into thinking Creed's Original Vetiver is a classic vetiver scent. It is actually quite different, a lot less smoky and less spicy than a 'normal' vetiver scent. What they've done is used vetiver leaves instead of the plant's root to extract the scent. They've created a much smoother, creamier and fresh, soapy scent that has been described as 'clean'. It's also a bit green, but not as much as GIT. Hope this helps - it's a very inoffensive scent that works well in the spring or in the summer.

Every Vetiver i've tried so far have all been completely different, so i'm not sure what it is actually "supposed" to smell like, but I'll keep trying them all lol

Vetiver is a deep earthy rooty smell. often likened with a "peppery" hint to it. Geurlein vetiver or annick goutal vetiver give a very strong representation of a vetiver. I own both cologne's along with M7 and wear them often.

Just recieved my MB's Green Irish Tweed the other day. Smells wonderful, but like every MB soap I have you need to play with it first to see how much water it likes. Probably try to shave with it tonight now that I seem to have it down pat lol

The most authentic, luscious vetiver scent I've ever experienced is Chanel's Sycomore, part of the Les Exclusifs range. It's only available at boutiques and never discounted, but you should at least be able to try or sample it and gain an understanding for yourself what vetiver is like.

Another one that's quite natural is Murdock of London's Vetyver, but not sure how easy that one is to get in the US.
