I had trouble lather this stuff, it just wouldn't produce a stable lather in my scuttle. I finally put the scuttle away, and started face lathering. Wow. Wow. Barbershop is simply awesome! Followed closely by OCBP. I have had some outstanding shaves with a SR and DE. A big thanks to the OP for starting this thread, which got me to revisit the tins sitting idle under the sink!

Well, your not alone. I've had this soap a while now, and used it several times. It does have an awesome appearence. Even if you weren't told it's a natural soap, You'd know as soon as you look at it. I have the same two scents, "Barbershop" and the "OCBP" When applied directly from the tin to the face or "Face lathering" It does give nice protection, glide and cushion, It's definitley a Face Lathering Soap IMO, no doubt about it. Pretty slick too.

This stuff does not like scuttles or heat. The lather is kind of flat when made that way. I loaded the crap out of my brush today, and transfered it to a warm scuttle, and still didn't have that much lather. You also need to be careful when adding water if using a scuttle. If your a scuttle user and used to SRD Soaps, Mama Bear's, MDC and DR Harris, to name a few, you may be disappointed.

I may try using it in a cold scuttle, no hot water, see how that does....Sometimes it takes several attempts with a new soap before you really get it the way you want it.

Face lathering seems to be the way to go. It looks like he's released shave sticks now.

    Gentlemen,
I am a little late to this subject here. Mike's Natural Soaps is exceptionally good. Mine is the barbershop scent. Luxurious lather that is moist, smooth glide and comfortable cushion make the soap a rarity among artisan soaps, most of which I find lacking in something or other. These days I face lather and Mike's responds quite well.

I've had the barbershop scent for a while now and really like it. It does seem touchy with heat but once you get it going it has great cushion and makes my face feel awesome afterwards.

I agree with everyone else here, this is excellent artisan shave soap. I have Pine and Cedar, and love it! I will buy again once I run out.
