    Gentlemen,
There are so many glorious soaps and creams out there that resisting the experience at first is futile. After a while, after trying one after another, some find a permanent spot in the shave den. And that's how it seems to work. At least it did for me, anyway. As for the Taylor of Old Bond Street soap in question, it is good stuff.

Just give in to the various AD's. Resisting will lead to binges.

Hello. My name is Jon...and I suffer from all forms of AD's shaving related (with the exception of HAD due to my shitty ability to hone ).

I currently have enough soap/cream to last me 10 years, enough razors/DE's to never use the same one twice for almost 3 months, and a brush for every day of the week. Lol this "journey" of mine only started 6 months ago! And yet I STILL find the NEED for more lol

There must be a support group for this

Btw TOBS is nice stuff. I've got the sandalwood cream, maybe I need to try the Lavender?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Lavender from TOBS.
A few of the previous posters have good experiences with it, hopefully you will to.
I'm afraid I'm not one of them.
After numerous attempts with it I have basically given up on it.
As far as traditional British soaps go, this one is the least impressive of all of them. Well of the ones I've tried anyway.
But like I said, I'm the minority on that

    Good luck with it!

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

    Well you get the picture

Just sheer curiosity I skipped the lemon and lime (Lemon being my all time favorite Scent). Because I was told it was very synthetic in smell and wasn't very good for skin... is this purely myth?

Well the TOBS came in today and the first thing I noticed was its smell. Unlike the Classic which is very faint if not almost non-existent in comparison. The smell was nothing like I expected. I was hesitant at ordering it as I was thinking it might be too floral for my taste. When I got to smell it, what I noticed was Cedar with a hint of Lavender. Hell I might toss the Classic as this scent is amazing. Also I found that SRD has a sample pack of 12 scents so I have ordered it just so I can see what is out there for relatively cheap.

I won't deny it I guess. My hope though is that the sample pack will show me the scents I do like so I can experiment with different companies with the same scent.

But what happens when you find out that certain scents can be completely different among the different soaps and creams.

Well goodluck mate. Lets do a follow up in six months and see where you are !

    Two sites for samples :

    Garry's Sample Shop

Shaving Cream Sample Singles - Truefitt, Trumper, Taylor, etc. - The Shave Den Shop - (Powered by CubeCart)

Good way to try and not dip into your pension cash .

    Cheers,

    Scott

E=Pyrateknight;992431]Okay I will be clear on this. I am making a valiant attempt not to end up with any Acquisition Disorders. I did however order a puck of TOBS Lavender for when my initial Puck of Classic brand Bay Rum runs out. I want to try different brands and form my own opinions on them. I just don't want to end up with either a bunch of pucks, razors, or brushes. I think having more than one puck may be as far for the AD as I will allow myself.

In any aspect I look forward to seeing the differences in each.[/QUOTE]
