Taylors of Old Bond street Sandalwood.....drys out too quickly
Ah yes my fellow brethren, another night in and I find myself drawn to my favourite place this my online Gentlemens club.
Now then: I love sandalwood shaving cream and Taylors of old bond street is some good stuff but I find it dries out far too quickly for me, can anyone recommend another sandalwood shaving cream or soap for me to try please? it musnt dry out quickly and must smell remotely like sandalwood.
Gentlemen as always, I thanky ou for your advice.

A few things come to mind. Do you have very hard water? Are you adding enough water and working the cream into a nice lather? I've got a few different flavors of TOBS and they lather very well. I'd keep trying with the TOBS creams, they seem to work well but like all the others, require a specific amount of water and lathering.
Here is an example, this is POST shave. It is the TOBS Lemon Lime SC.

One that i can recommend is the RazoRock Nonno Michelino Artisan soap. It is tallow based, lathers easily and has a great sandalwood scent.

Sherborne,
You might try the new Proraso 'Red' - that is fragranced with what might be described as a pure sandalwood.
Here at Connaught Shaving :
Proraso Sandalwood Shaving Cream Tube 150 ml 'Barbe Dure'
For me, this cream is superb
Have fun !
Best regards

I have been using TOBS Sandalwood since last December, though not exclusively.
I'm in London at the moment, but the bathroom I use in Qatar (be back there soon) reaches 50 C, as there is no AC in that area.Ii face lather and do three passes without the lather drying out on either my face or on the brush.
I would try a little more water with it before giving up.

I do live in a hard water area but I do believe my failure is in the lack of water used to produce the lather, I will give it another shot for a week or two and see how I get on, I will keep you all posted.
Thank you for the help.

It's the quality of the soap. Taylor's aren't very good for their software - soaps and creams in my experience. A lot of the stuff they sell in the Jermyn Street store has been sat there for donkeys years!

Thanked: 1195In my country a "Gentlemen's Club" is something entirely different.....
Anyway, I have TOBS Sandalwood soap and it is a superior product. It was the first high end soap that I purchased, and while I admit that it took awhile to master its lathering (compared to an easy soap like Proraso) once I found the sweet spot it works wonderfully. Though I haven't tried the cream I say don't give up on it yet.
