Thanked: 2Well, I'm a bit more than one week post-op from the C5/6/7 fusion and can honestly say that it's no big deal. I went in at 5:45am, had the surgery and was back home by lunchtime. I'm in no more pain than I was the day before the surgery and if you consider the shoulder and arm pain I had before, it's actually less. I'm stuck in a soft collar for most of the day other than showering until the follow up on 01/11/07 though.
The worst part of it is not being able to tilt my head up or down (doctor's orders). I've had to go back to the dreaded Mach 3 for now and even with that it's hard to shave the jawline without raising my chin. I'm planning on ordering a Merkur DE next week when I get paid. Hopefully that'll get closer than the Mach 3 and, since I'm not sure how much range of motion I've permanently lost, I may have to use that on my throat and neck from now on and just use my straights above the jawline.
I'm still using my mug, brush and TGQ Highlander soap though ... that's the best part of the day!
