Looking for suggestions
Just stepping away from caned foam after many years, and going back to brushed lather - I'm looking for unscented suggestions on which product to try.

They aren't unscented but smell quite pleasant.
I've used Ingram shaving cream for some time now and love it. Smells great, has menthol and lathers well. I think it may only be available in uk.
The Real Shaving Company Shave Cream, again, it smells great and lathers well and I use alongside Ingram.
I started a different thread about the incident surrounding the purchse in the BRUSHES forum but I've just tried the Body Shop MACA root shaving cream. Came in a 200g pot for £8. Smells quite pleasant and the results are in my profile pic. Lathers well, all round I have 3 creams I now like a lot and will continue to use.

Simpsons cream is fairly fragrance free, and although Mitchell's Woolfat as scent I would say that's It's not to strong very old school and very comforting.

I've only ever used the scented version but Martin de Candre also makes an unscented soap. Guaranteed exceptional performance.

I guess I'll have to check out and order some to really know - in the meantime I just stepped into a CVS in the lobby of the building and grabbed a bar of V-D-H Select Shave Soap so that tomorrow morning I won't be going through what I did this morning attempting to get a lather off a bar of hand soap.

VdH is my go to because I can trust it to perform the same and protect my face whatever blade I use. I have at hand about twenty different and mostly enjoyed soaps and creams but, when I want to assure protection for a just off the hones razor, VdH is my friend. It will teach you a lot and is cheap enough to experiment with untill you can lather well.

Thanked: 1185VDH soap (in any of its many varieties) is a great soap for beginners and veterans alike. It's affordable, available locally and works like a champ. What else needs to be said?

Mr. Blimp: For superb unscented creams, I suggest Ultimate Comfort by Truefitt & Hill. The other unscented shave cream is The Art of Shaving. Finally, Savon du Midi, a French hard cream, comes in three scents that are so subtle they can pass as unscented. These are top of the line. Good stuff.
