This thread is a bit of a let down. I came in hoping for THE Jack Black, you know, the guy from Tenacious D, to have his own line of shaving products now.

Glad to hear its working out for you though brooksie.

It's my understanding that this was recently reformulated. The previous formula was scented wonderfully with eucalyptus oil (but oddly labeled unscented) and was essentially a lather-less product. I was a big fan of this iteration. If you added enough water, it was protective and slick, leaving your face feeling nice and moisturized.

Briefly, very briefly, the label carried a "new formula" sticker, but I've not seen that lately. I was at my local Ulta store today and saw this product again. I wanted to try it but have been put off by comments like yours that the scent has been removed.

I'd like to try it again. Maybe if I can find it on sale, or find a smaller tube size.

I understand where everyone is coming from however I kind of like the 'no scent' part of this cream. Like I mentioned above, this makes it easy to add your own smell via essential oil. Most essential oils only require a drop or two to scent your entire bowl of lather and it's cheaper to buy 3 or 4 scents you really enjoy and just add whichever one you're in the mood for.

I shaved again with this stuff today and went right to across the grain. Again, had one of the best shaves i've had so far. I'm also using a razor I stropped using the method mentioned in my post about stropping treatments and thanks to Marty and his progression of treatments I'm really getting some incredible shaves!

I have this tub of cream, and had a little problems in the past lathering it correctly. Haven't used it for about a year ago. Also my lathering technique has improved, so I'm going to give it another chance.

Just my two pennys,my wife bought me a tub at nordstroms last year.
If you can get a sample before you pop 25ish bux for this stuff.
It is without peer, the worst shaving cream/soap.I have ever used.

I lent the cream to my buddy Matt (Ironsidegnr on here) who typically uses TOBS, for those of you that are unfamiliar: Taylor of Old Bond Street. I'd never tried the stuff myself until yesterday's shave and this mornings shave. Matt was one of the people that didn't really like the stuff, and as with everything shaving related, from razors to soaps to the hones we prefer to the strops and application of pastes/treatments and brushes we use, it is all personal prefrence.

My prefrence is, after 2 shaves mind you, on the side of the Jack Black outperforming TOBS. TOBS definitely lathered more easily for me but I think I also used the cream, which is thicker than Jack BlaCK, more liberally. The scent of the TOBS Sandlewood was to die for, the best smelling cream I've used so far. While the lather was arguably thicker than the JB, I didn't find it as slick. Perhaps my shaving prefrence is geared more towards slickness rather than cushion?

Any how, I felt the comparison holds merit and that the JB stacks up against some of the higher-end creams on the market and is considerably cheaper.

To clarify, I personally feel that JB outperforms Proraso White (for sensitive skin) hands down. I think it is on-par with TOBS but my personal preference leans slightly towards the JB; that might change after a few more shaves with the TOBS though.

I'd love to hear some more reviews/comparisons.

I can't disagree with you, it's your opinion, but can you provide a few reasons so anyone reading can perhaps relate to what you look for in a soap/cream?

It's online at the sephora store. Just google that. Any essential oils you enjoy the scent of. Just be careful how much you add as any oil cal comprimise the quality of your lather. I really find that 1 drop is enough. I've got Cedar and a few others that I really enjoy!
