Gotta agree with tbs! Czech & Speake, No. 88 or Oxford is at the top of my list for ease of use and results. I have MWF, like it, and Tabac, but C&S is, by far, my favorite soap!! Look for the refill puck, the anodized aluminum container is waaaaay overpriced IMO!!!

Thanked: 21While I haven't tried the tabac yet I have tried the MWF as I got it earlier this week and this is only my opinion so (as I put my bullet proof jacket on) while it think its an amazing soap, top notch I only think the scent is fair at best. Not bad not anything to write home about. I shave every day crack of dawn as I'm in the military and required to so when I shave I really appreciate a scent that catches my attention, so if I had to choose one soap thus far id go with mikes natural shave soap lemongrass and eucalyptus. I've tried 4 of his and they are all good and I cant wait for the barber scent to get in stock as it smells amazing.(sampled it) Unless someone knows if MWF works just as well with essential oils added. Just my 2 cents. And as mentioned I'm sure as I feed the addiction ill eventually pick up some tabac as well.

I used Tabac yesterday and MWF this morning. I think I got a better shave with MWF but cannot be certain.
Get both

Thanked: 14I vote mwf. My face feels ideally soft after a mwf shave.

Sooner or later you are going to buy or at least try both - believe you me!!
I suggest going for Tabac. It's easier to lather for a beginner. The MWF takes forever to master the lathering technique and can sometimes result in "flat" lather with not enough slick or cushion. The Tabac bowl fits the soap perfectly as well, meaning it won't on itself when you try to lather it.
I agree with others that suggested Czech & Speake and Martin de Candre soaps as well. These are at the top of the wet shaving kingdom!!

Thanked: 3Thanks for the advise guys.
I'd looked at DR Harries but i have heard reading here that they might be having some quality issues as the moment.
So may well have to buy 2 soaps straight away then, Tabac to get use to soaps and some Czech & Speake for something top flight.
Its not safe to come on here. hahahaha
