castle forbes sandalwood and cedar
Hey guys, so I recently picked up a tub of the sandalwood and cedar cream from castle forbes and I noticed that the scent is very. very light. I still have a little proraso cream left that I need to use before I start the CB but I was just curious if when you lather up and shave can you pick up the scent a bit more? I also ordered the sandalwood aftershave by D.H. Harris which I must say is my new favorite. I've heard great things about Castle Forbes and I know its all natural oils but I wish it had a little stronger scent. Does anyone have recommendations for similiar products, they dont have to be free of artificial fragrances but high quality sandalwood creams.

Thanked: 1195That's strange, usually members are complaining that CF's scents are too potent . Either way, CF is a top tier product that won't let you down performance-wise.
As for other sandalwood creams, Taylor of Old Bond Street would be a good choice.

thank you I will definitely have to try the Taylor of Old Bond St. cream, yeah I was kind of surprised when I opened the tub to smell, it def has a earthy/wood scent but its very light. Perhaps when I lather, it will become stronger. I can't wait to try it out when I'm out of proraso, maybe I'll try it tonight hopefully I'll be able to go back to the proraso

You could always enhance the shave cream's scent by using the Castle Forbes after shave balm in the same scent. It is quite strong to my nose.
You could also pair it with Diptyque's Tam Dao fragrance which is very very similar to the Castle Forbes.

Even if the scent is light, which is basically aroma therapy anyway, Castle Forbes is a top notch performer. I think you'll like it. When I bought the Cedar/Sandalwood about 5 years ago,and I still have some, It was more on the Cedar side. In fact, it had a very strong Cedar scent, still does, totally overpowered the Sandalwood. It's still one of my favorite shave creams. You can't beat the suds. I have the Lime, and the Lavander.
Taylor of Old Bond St. has a very strong and unique Sandalwood scent. If your looking for a strong Sandalwood, that's the one.....
Don't let that one tub throw you, In fact if it's new, you may be able to send it back and get another. I've done that before. Most vendors are more than happy to make you happy. I sent back GFT Avacado to Smallflower and got a replacement.....Last edited by zib; 03-25-2013 at 03:48 PM.

Thanked: 1I'm a sandalwood fan. I have tried a number of sandalwood cremes and TOBS is my favourite. Like the BostonBlades, I like a strong scent while shaving. TOBS has a strong, unique and pleasant scent, along with great lather. I have tried G.F. Trumper which also creates a great lather, but while the scent is relatively strong, it is kinda... boring. It's your typical earthy sandalwood. Nothing wrong with it - just not for me. Truefitt and Hill's sandalwood has a great lather and exciting scent, but somewhat weaker.
I have not had the opportunity to try CF sandalwood, but I have lavander one which has a great strong scent. I have to say it is little bit disapointing to hear this about sandalwood. :/

The art of shaving sandalwood cream has a very potent scent it is also a great preformer. I have a tub of it, but it was given to me, as I will never pay 50$ retail for cream.

Thanked: 18Funny. I have the same CF, and can REALLY smell it. And I like it.
My wife says, "I can't smell it...it doesn't smell like anything".

Used it yesterday for the first time and love it; lathered well; scent wasn't too strong, but pleasant. Had a great shave.
