I've been converted to uber
So I finally felt like I was starting to have some nice thick creamy lathers going and then deigheingeal made some uber lather for me in his wicked scuttle. It sat on my face for a few minutes while glen gave my razor a quick strop and dang. That was a lather like non other. He mixed some cream, some bar, and a few drops of glycerine and wow. Just saying give it a go and be forever changed...

I tend to prefer "under-lather". I lather up in 20 seconds, get a wettish, slimy lather and find that it makes for increased lubrication for the face and blade and is much easier to shave off the face. I use no more lather than I absolutely need. I think creating uberlather is a great skill, and I can do it, but I don't find that I need it for a fine shave.

It's a good thing, Uber!

I rest my case.

Thanked: 3228I tend to agree with ace, uber lather is a fine luxury but should not be necessary to do to get a lather good enough to shave with. Any good shave soap should be capable on its own of producing a thick creamy lather that is readily shave able. I used to do it all the time in the beginning and still do on occasion when I want a little bit of decadent luxury. Uber lather is really something though isn't it.

Thanked: 13247IIRC the Überlather Gerritt mixed up was the Escentials products from Portland which is also one of the top Überlather recipes that we have found...
Try the MWF + Musgo Real + 5 Drops Glycerin "Lanolin Overload" Über for another exceptional one.
Überlather can be addictive, the fun of making and trying the different recipes, and when you find the ones that are exceptional, they produce a lather that can never be matched by any single product, they combine a glide, cushion, and conditioning to the face, that just makes it all worthwhile to take the time to enjoy the Luxury of it...

Thanked: 25I am a huge fan of Uber. My current Uber is Williams and VDH pucks, EMJ cream and glycerine. I like it and it works well for the few bucks it costs. Im actually wanting to try it with CO Bigelow cream as well and see how that works out.

And with that, thinking to some of the conversation we had about different type of shavers in this "sport". I've come to the conclusion that whenever possible I think my goal is going to be going to for the highest, luxury shave I can possibly concoct. At lease while I work a schedule that gives me time to do it. This to me is becoming more and more a way that I can relax and enjoy some of the finer things

Uber seems like a great way to use all that excess product you have lying around. Anyway, why isn't someone starting a "What's your favourite Uber Lather recipe?" thread?
Nothing is as it ever was.
