I am also of the OCD crowd. I have to clean my stuff. But that doesn't mean I waste it. I usually scoop up extra lather and put in back in the mug with the puck. That's what works for me

Sounds like a great idea to me. I've done this before and actually think some of my soaps perform a little better (at least the lather builds faster). This works great if your container is not see through and has a lid to cover up the mess. I like to keep thing's cleaned up, as all my stuff sits out.

I once left a bowl of left over cream on the counter in the restroom. I was in a hurry. I now have to leave a little bit of left over in the restroom, because my wife loves the smell of it, and she will sometimes use it up for her shave. I like to keep it clean, but see no problem with reusing your latherables.

A few weeks ago, I got in on a little experiment using the same brush and soap for a week with no cleanup. Worked out great, you can build instant lather with zero effort. Here's the thread.

We had a member here who described himself as "frugal" who said that he saved the lather in his bowl and could thus make a puck of Tabac last for 5 years (IIRC). Just goes to show the power of frugality.....

I count myself among the "clean-it-up" crowd. Besides, I have way too many soaps and creams to be that cheap, especially if I want to use them up someday!

I save mine as well. I clean my brush very well after. I add more to the brush when i go to shave again just not as much.

Exactly what I do. Not because I'm frugal, I have way too many soaps and creams to be considered that. I am a little OCD but I guess I don't consider a little soap in a mug overnight as "unclean".
