Thanked: 0Extra manly shave soap?
I'm fairly new to shave soap so I have tried/ smelled too many of the offerings. Im searching for something extra manly, something like leather/pipe tobacco/gunpowder/loam. I'm not that keen on the old time-y powder room type scents, certainly nothing floral or citrus-y. I also like a fair amount of the glycerine feel. Anyone have any suggestions? I have a soap maker relatively near by that will do all kinds of custom soaps but having never used her products I can't speak as to their worthiness as shave soap. Thanks!

Thanked: 485Madame Scodiloi has some nice scents. I'm using 'Step Right Up' at rthe moment, but I think you might like 'Sentinel', though I haven't tried it myself...

Tabac is what you're looking for.
But unfortunately it's not a soap !!!
And what about Mama's bear, there must be something that would please you there ?Last edited by dudness; 04-06-2013 at 09:29 AM.

Thanked: 13Otis,
Mama Bear's makes, or at least used to make, a pipe aroma soap the scent of which I loved since I was forced by the woman I loved to quit pipe smoking ten years ago. It has a great aroma, but I ended up giving it away because the fragrance oils in her soaps irritated my skin. You might like it, however, and not have that reaction.
Proraso Red is another scent that might pass your "manliness" test. It's ostensibly sandalwood, but to my nose the overwhelming aroma is one of damp leaves and woodiness. It's one of my favorite scents. Like something you'd get sitting against a tree waiting for a turkey to come in range.
More expensive, but of exceptional quality is Klar Seifen which has a very mild sandalwood scent is as good a soap as any I've tried.
good luck

After you have tried everything, you will conclude that TABAC SOAP was what you were looking for at the beginning.
Have fun, it will be a very nice scent n' soap journey.

I think you've got some great answers here already. To elaborate on some of my faves since I too am a 'manly scent' aficionado
- SRD Opus X. Highly recommended
- SRD Bay rum. Another great one
- Mama bears Masonic lodge - trust me on his one, it will be your fave!
- other recommended mama bear scents
- north woods camp (campfire smell)
- bear ice - smells great with ice cold finish
- musk
I would highly recommend MB's pipe tobacco also, it smells really nice an rich. As noted bellow however I too am sensitive to whatever scent oil is in that one.... For what it's wort it is the only soap / shaving product I have ever been sensitive to, and I do not have sensitive skin, so because of that I would not recommend it.......... Mix any good soap with gasoline, naphthenic acid and palmitic acid.
For extra show you can set it on fire while shaving.
