Thanked: 1Soap Scent for a younger guy?
Hey guys! Currently I use TOBS sandlewood. I love it and personally I think it smells great. The only problem is that after every time I shave my significant other tells me that I smell like her grandpa and she jokingly calls my old man all day. So I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a soap that smelled a little less old mannish? Lol not to insult anyone, I personally dig it, just don't want to keep hearing me being referred to as a grandpa anymore.

Try the Portland General Store shaving soaps. I use the whiskey scented soap and AS and really like it. You can also purchase sample packs from Mama Bear and Al's shaving to help narrow down your search for that perfect scent.
Best,I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

For me it really doesnt matter what scent my soap is. My shave cave may smell like that soap for a few hours, but I do not. I will smell like my splash all day long. I may even be able to get a whif of my balm, but I will smell my splash all day. My advice is splash with some witch hazel and then apply the cologne that SWMBO chooses for you. Good luck-

I find that your best bet is to use a soap/cream that is very neutral like Trumpers Almond, Proraso green, Musgo Real, or W. M. Neumann’s Peppermint. Then follow up with the cologne of your choice. It’s a lot easier to find a cologne fragrance that appeals to her than a soap/cream. At least that’s the case with my wife. On the other hand, if you want a soap that does both, try WM Neumann’s Absolute Zero (or 1911, Heartwood, or 1904), Truefitt and Hill’s Trafalgar, Trumper’s GFT, or even D.R. Harris Arlington (to a lesser degree). Sandalwood has that classic scent associated with your grandfather. Doesn’t keep me from using it, but I understand.

Try Crabtree & Evelyn's West Indian Lime Soap. It smells like, well, limes. Seriously, it's a good scent that is not grandpa'ish by any means, and it is a quality tallow based soap that will last many shaves. You can order it online if there are no stores in your area. Also, for your aftershave, give Adidas aftershave a try. My son, who is 17, uses it and likes it. I'm 49, and I also think it smells great. You can find it at Walmart.

Thanked: 36You could try ordering some samples. There doesn't seem to be too many places that do them but if you just google shaving soap samples you'll find a couple of places.
I also second the lime scent idea, although the one I have is castle forbes lime essential oil cream. I didn't realize how much I like the smell of lime til I tried it.

Any of the Arko Creams/shave soaps are pretty modern scented. Like soapy clean scents and "cool" type of scents. lol TBH I've never had any luck with their lubrication but still debating about weather that's the creams fault or my technique/sensitive skin. But modern scents do exist for good soaps and creams. Not just for canned stuff. keep lookin and good luck.
