Hi Tony,
As interesting as the strap on story is, I'm more interested in the rice pudding recipe . I have been in search of a decent rice pudding recipe for yonks, and can still remember my mother's and the way it used to taste so yummy.
Sadly neither are around anymore, so I would be kind of keen to try and learn your wife's recipe if that's possible
Cheers
John

Stropping observation
The last couple of days I noticed that stropping on the real linen side increases the draw on the leather. While stropping on the leather the draw seems to lessen. After e.g. 5 passes on the linen there will be increased draw on the leather again but this will "wear" after a while.
So nowadays I alternate linen and leather a couple of times evenually ending on the leather.
Anyone having similar observations?

Kees,
Could the linen actually be abrasive enough to raise a fine micro-scratch pattern that is increasing resistance when going to the leather?
It's odd the draw on the leather would change dependant on passes over the linen unles the linen is changing the razors edge somewhat.
The stretch of the real linen is still making me hold off a bit on incorporating it into my products. Other than a linen only strop it will be an issue.
I do have a new design in thw works for ends on all my strops which may make this a non issue though. Just a week or two too early to tell yet.

Thanked: 4I know with the likes of Irish linen items they say not to wash it above 80 C or it will lose its elasticity. I might have to have a go at hacking the table linen up.
