Thanked: 9This video changed the game for me. For one stropping got much easier on my hands and arms. It seems to me that a tight strop makes controlling pressure more challenging. I now have a very loose hanging strop, less pressure, and get the best edges ever. I also now use Liam Finnegan's Undilicot technique recently discussed which has eliminated my over cooked edges. I recently purchased a Shuobudani and used it to follow my Coticule. For weeks the results were terrible. I could not get a smooth shave. Finishing on water with the Shuobudani was creating a burr. Since finishing on light slurry and using a looser strop edges are great. On both Sheffield and my seemingly harder Solingen blades.

Wow... I've been holding mine very tight with almost no pressure down on the blade. I guess I ran across the paddle strop and figured I needed to mimic the ridged stropping surface.... and then I found this video first.

I wonder how many have noticed how lightly Mr Finnegan is holding that razor.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
