Excellent thread ! This photo of a rolled edge at high mag is a bit after the fact and I wish I could give credit for it but I did not save the info. Regardless , here it is.

    Great photo, Wirm!

It also goes to show that you do not need any magnification to detect a rolled edge. All you need is a fine needle and slide it down the bevel at an angle - on one side it will pass off the bevel, on the rolled side (or the part where the edge is rolled - might not extend all along the edge but exist in certain areas) it will meet resistance as the tip encounters the curl.

Some of us can feel it with our fingers, then again some of us are prone to cutting ourselves!

    Regards,
    Neil.

Dang Wirm, that edge looks so rolled that the dude stropping the blade split the crap out of it.

AFDavis' post on 4-14-2014 is an excellent, excellent observation on how to strop a razor. Worth reading more than once!

    Great photos gssixgun.

It looks like Finnegan is lifting the spine on his away stroke about 3 inches from end or am I missing something? Then again old Masters have a feel & touch that's hard to achieve and can boggle the eye.

By my perception, Wirm's photo shows a rolled and cracked edge.

So, when are you going to buy a SEM for your honing lair?
