Handle Throwing Me Off
So I got my practice razor today just to learn technique my Dovo Astrale is in the mail. I have the roll on spine down pat but then the handle starts to bend on me and strarts throwing me off. Im prob going to need to hook up with someone and have them watch me. Ive watched the videos I start slow but then the handle starts to move from straight to sideways snd throws me off. Anyone else had this problem when learning?

Thanked: 2027Is the blade loose in the scales? You really do not want the handle to be held in your fingers.

Im getting there my Dovo Astrale will be here in a few days. Just need to keep practising. I used a straight razor to shave before for months it was disposable blades tho. I need to learn the stropping the shaving with one im not nervous about

I let the scales "ride" my pinky. I just kind of hook the pinky and the scales just roll in the hook. It sounds to me like your scales are trying to close which would mean they are a tad lose. You should be able to hold the scales from the bottom in your thumb and index finger, pull the razor open upward an inch and have it stay put. If it falls back into the scales. It may be too loose.

all the grip I use is to the tang mainly, the scales are just rolling loose in my fingers when I strop as you use very little pressure so i light grip should be enough
& remember shave with the blade if it is honed before you strop it, so you have a base feel for if the stropping is dulling it, this will keep you on the right track also hopefullySaved,
to shave another day.

+1 on pixelfixed's comment. Let the scales lay across your fingers but don't grip them.
