Thanked: 10If you could only use one strop?
I started out with a cheap beginners/learner strop because I did not want to pay a lot do money for something that I might destroy because I did not know what I was doing or that I would decide later was not for me. I am now at a point that I enjoy shaving with straights and I have not damaged my strop yet so I feel it is time to think about graduating to a better strop.
My question is: If you could only pick one strop and could not spend over $100, what strop would you pick?

Thanked: 19that a no brainer for right at the mark tony miller 3 inch heirloom fast bridle or steer hide. mine with the optional handles was right at that, little cheaper with d rings though. that would be my pick of the litter. you can find him at the well shaved gentleman website. he wont have any before January and there wont be many, drop him an email and see what he says.

Tony Miller 3" Steerhide is a fine strop. It too has replaceable components. I have a Herold 3" oiled Russian leather strop in the mail. Anxious to see how it works out. It was a deal at $57, but has no sccondary stropping surface. Not to worry though as I have a couple of those in coarse and fine weave cotton from Tony Miller. The fine weave is some great stuff....

Tony's horsehide is mighty nice, but I'd save enough for a Neil Miller and go with that ...... if I could only have one ........ perish the thought ! ..........
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 10Thanks for the feedback everybody, this helps narrow things down for me. Will probably hold out for the Tony Miller's to come available. If I get to impatient will go for one from SRD. Sounds like I cannot go wrong either way.

You will need both to compare.
