Yea, looks pretty good, assuming the leather is good. I cut off the handle on my travel strops to fit in my shaving kit.

I never liked the looks of that leather. I went to see them in person and they just don't look smooth enough for my edge.

I use one of Tonys practice strops for travelling, it's almost as good as the #1 strop but rolls up nicely into a compact ball (being single thickness) and is easily stowed inside a mug or a plastic pot etc.

I've got this idea for a travel strop. Being new at this you all can tell me why it won't work. And if somone runs with this I would like one. I just don't have time to build it. It would be a wooden paddle with leather on one side. It would be 9" long because that would fit in my shaving bag. It would have a removable handle that would store in the back in a compartment with room for one razor. It would have a slide lid over the razor and stored handle. This would protect the razor and the handle would attach to make it easier to strop.

If someone uses this idea mine would come with a new Dovo stanless razor shave ready.

    Don,
Thiers Issard makes something similar although quite small with too short a handle I think. It has leather on 2 sides and a top that swings aside like an old pencil box. I have one and enjoy it but feel it can be improved upon.

as a matter of fact some clever friends are cobbling one up now <g>

I also just purchased a #2 from Tony; how do you travel with it? Roll it up, lay it flat in luggage or something else?

    Jeff,
Phil's strop is a bit more flexible as he got a soft natural leather instead of Latigo. I do have some of my heavy draw, Original latigo left I was going to use on your strop and it should roll in a gentle circle easily. You don't want to roll this any tighter than a 9 to 12 inch circle. If possible laying them flat is always better.

My little box strop paddle in in the prototype stages right now. Roughtly 2" wide, 1 1/4" thick and with a wooden handle like my usualy 4 sides. It will hold one or two razors inside. Not settled on wood type or pricing yet as I am having Amish friends make up a few to get ideas. We are also working on a razor stand and a display case as well.
