Thread: Tried to Catch Razor...

I have a rug in the bathroom when shaving. I have dropped my razor once and I didn't think of trying to catch it after reading threads about this, luckily it hit the rug and no damage was done. Glad to see it's getting better.

This brings up another dropped razor story from a few years ago.

In short, if you shave right out of the shower, put a towel between you and the sink.

I think we all have our dropped razor story to tell especially if you've been at it for many years. I know I've dropped a few.

As bad as it may be it's worse if you be a watch collector and fumble putting on a nice watch and it hits the floor. The last time I did that the lesson cost me $1200.

Yup, very hard to overcome the natural reflex to catch something you dropped. Learned that lesson when I dropped a Kraft Layboy slitter while changing it so was able to stand clear of my SR when I dropped it. You rarely forget that first lesson.

Yea, but it is only a monetary ouch it would hurt more having your 21st appendage repaired or sewn back on.

Glad you weren't cut worse than you were. I found myself getting cut a lot, especially doing restoration work. I've now gotten where I'm much more careful.

Much better to deal with a broken razor than an injury that could be very serious.

I like the idea of stropping over a rug - the mat next to my shower will slide right over.

The last and most important point is that we are humans and humans make mistakes. Having grace with ourselves is the way to go, even if its an expensive item.

We all know not to try to catch a falling razor, but I think it be more of a natural reaction than we realize.
Sliding over the bathrug that's just outside the shower makes perfect sense.
