    Sounds like its time for your wife to buy you a new strop!

    Look on the bright side...at least you didnt leave it in a hotel room.... and at least you werent shaving with the razor at the time so you didnt end up PIERCING YOUR EAR....oh the joys of wives and straight razors....

    I use whatever I have at hand. Being that I do some woodworking, I usually have many grit sizes of sandpaper around. I think its more important that you smooth out the "divit" so as not to catch the razor than it is about the means of how you do it or what you use. Sometimes I think we may all be guilty of over-thinking these things when the simplest solution is staring us right in the face. Heck, I once cleaned up a strop "Oops" on a stationary belt sander. LOL Did the job!

    Just smooth it out and carry on.
