i was just wondering how tight everyone pulls there strop. A barber told me to hold it tight then give it a little slack just enough so the entire edge gets stropped. He said if you pull it really tight you strop uneven and if its to loose you ruin the edge.

Sounds like what I do, I pull just enough to keep the leather flat as I strop. To hard and the sides curle up... grrr

I found the best out of the way place so it never has to be moved and it's out of the way is a coat hook on the back of the bathroom door put it any height you like and when you shut the door you've got a solid base to work from.

i feel like a mix of a few of you.
hang on the hand towel rack to strop, chest high. pulling downward @45 degrees.
pull tight, however soon, may be needing to find a wall stud.
store my strop on hook on top of back of bathroom door. under the robes out of the way of the wife.

Like most, mine's on a towel rack, about chest high - I have it going on a downslope to about the bellybutton. I can't for the life of me figure out how to strop with a downward angle.
As for tightness, I hold mine firmly, like pulling open a door with a pneumatic hinge (sorry, that's the best analogy I could come up with at this time of morning without coffee!).
