I can just tell you from my experience I have three horse hide strops. A vintage DD, a TM Horse and a Cordovan Horse and none of them exhibit any draw at all ever no matter the razor. On the other hand my TM Latigo cow has all inds of draw as do some vintage cow hide strops.

Thebigspendur,
That is why I went with the "ahand finsih" buffing as an option on my latest run. It took a lot more work to do but I threw them all out there at the same price to see how well received the new finish was. So far everyone has commented positively on the amount of draw. It is greater than the smooth horsehide and equal to the latigo for the most part. The latigo will vary a bit as each tannery run is a little different in color and especially finish. Some feel waxier, others oilier, some quite dry.
In the end though if it does the job you made a good choice no matter the leather or the maker.
