    Default Paddle Strop Use

I just bought a paddle strop from the www.thewellshavedgentleman.com and was wondering what is the correct method for using it. I found nothing in the Wiki. I even searched the forums. What I mean, is, do you hold it in your hand, or place it on a flat surface, more like a rock. I plan on pasting it with cro2 on one side and possibly diamond .5 on the other side to use first. This was going to be my first line of defense to refresh my razors. Any thoughts?

Most guys will hold the handle and lay the other end on a firm surface like a counter top. I just hold it in my hand. As with most things, whatever is comfortable is fine. One thing I will say is that I need to go slower and pay more attention with my paddle strop and since I use it clean instead of a hanging strop, I also have to do more passes to really strop the edge.

A pasted paddle is a great weapon to have against the dreaded dull razor zombies
I gotta agree with" X" I use mine free hand also, the counter lean just doesn't work for me, and yes a perfectly flat light stroke is very important on the paddle strop, and usually easier to achieve for a new guy than on a hanger....

Hell, use it however feels best for you! As long as you are stropping correctly, minor details like that don't really matter.

I like to have at least 1 point of contact on a fixed surface when I use one.

I find my body position dictates how I hold the strop. If I am sitting, I hold it in my hand. If standing, I hold the handle and rest the other end on a counter top.
