I hate to let my little secrets out, but if the old folks still have one of these in the garage...............Works GREAT!

I rest my case.

Thanked: 3164Tom, I have one of those locked up in the garage, too.
Haven't seen one of those vibrating belt body toners in a long while, though...

I just bought two new strops. Initially I was not happy with the new strops. I was getting little flecks of leather coming off (very small). So I treated the leather with Ballistol. A very little bit goes a very long way, I put a dab on and covered the whole surface. I noticed some of the dye or polish used on the leather came off on the cloth. I let the strop dry over night. I did this for three or four days running. The strop became very supple and no more flecks. I also noticed the clean white cloth I was applying the Ballistol with was picking up less color each day, and the leather was becoming smoother and softer.
From then on all I've done is rub the oils on my palm on the strop each day. It definitely worked very well. I use the Ballistol on my razors as well. Very nice product, I have a sixteen ounce can of the stuff. At the amount I need to apply to either strop or razor this can is going to last for decades :-).
One more approach...
Best,
EdI routinely badger myself and the shaves are improving!

I don't know about using it on a strop but I used neatsfoot oil on a high dollar couch that is 20 years old and was faded badly. I also used it on my two Ekornes leather recliners that were equally as old and faded. all three are amazingly like the day I bought them. the color came back and they are nice and soft. One of the Ekornes chairs was a deep blue and was faded to a very light blue and the oil brought back the original color. It took several coates
One tired old Marine- semper fi, god bless all vets
