    Default "Fine Stars"

Has anyone heard of a "Fine Stars" Strop? I found one on some random Japanese Razor site...about $60...cheaper than importing one, for sure...

    Here's a picture:

It's no Tony Miller Latigo, that's for sure...

It's not cordovan but is a nice strop. Same as what I use. There are several options. That one has the 'nicer' leather with the rougher canvas. There is another level of leather a step down (no real visible difference and only about $5 price difference) and another canvas material that is white and is a lot softer. Both are on the same level in my opinion and can be had at knife shops around where I work.

I think the main diference is the stamp and the color of the hardware at the top of the strop. Some are silver and some are gold. The silver are stamped with a 'SHELL Heavy French Hide' or some such and this one is different but having handled both there is no major difference in the leather portion. Not to be compared to afore mentioned cordovan which has no sewn on handles and is sold by Martin at Rasurpur.

I have no other strop and have used no other so cannot compare it but it has worked find and is in my limited opinion a nice strop.

Ok... I got the strop, and it is NOT the strop in the picture. It has silver hardware, not gold.

Should I raise a stink about this?
