Default need a cheap but working strop

Well, I have been shaving with a DE now for months and once again am having the urge to give straight razors a whirl again. What is a good basic strop and where can I get one. I was thinking the DOVO russian leather wide strop but I know you fellas will have more insight into what i should get. I dont want to spend to much, at the most 45 bucks. I also will need something for touchups. What do you suggest for that. I dont want to pay an arm and a leg for a 4 sided paddle, maybe I could just paste the linen or canvas side of the strop i do get.

How about a Tony Miller starter? Great value & quality within that budget, I believe. I think he's taking time to restock right now though. There's nothing wrong with the Dovo's though, & the Jemico's are pretty good too. Other than that, put a wanted add in the classifieds.

That'll probably tie in perfectly with Tony re-opening the store front. He's upgraded the Apprentice, so it's even better now!

It is ugly, very ugly ... but it works very well and is cheap.

with diamond paste? How does that setup work for you? I have only tried a swaty baber hone and a pasted paddle with chromium for touching up razors.

Tony Miller all the way. You also have the option when ordering from him of adding a practice strop for around ten dollars when you order from him. It will keep your good strop hopefully nick free. Here is the link to his website. The Well Shaved Gentleman, Heirloom Razor Strop Company, Straight Razor Shaving Supplier Jeremy-

Diamond paste 3 micron, 1 micron and 0.5 micron.

    3 micron I not use.

For honing: after hone in coticule, 5 strokes in diamond paste 1 micron, 10 strokes in 0.5 diamond paste and 10 strokes in cromiun oxide for smoothness.

For manteniment: In 9 moths I use 5 strokes in 0.5 diamond paste and 5 strokes in cromium oxide "cromium oxide only for smoothness" every 7 or 10 shaves.

    Best regards
