Where do you hang your strop?
At home my strops hang just under the counter ledge and are out of the way unless I'm using them. I was at a hotel last week and used a robe hook which was about 52" from the floor and I found it significantly improved my technique. So; who strops at waist height and who strops at shoulder height? I'm always looking to improve my technique for the best shave.
As always; thanks everyone for contributing!

Mr. Ugly sits waist high hanging from a carabiner attached to an eye hook screwed into the wall.
Works well cause I can move the strop up or leave it level.

I use cable ties, A.K.A. zip ties, to hang mine from a doorknob. This leaves them at 36" from the floor which is around waist high for this old man. I couldn't imagine 52" but then I haven't tried it. I figure that pro barbers hung them off of the hook built into the Koken barber chairs and that was slightly below waist high. Whatever works best for you though.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 278I used to put the strop on a high clothes hook on the bathroom door, but I now hook up to a towel rail about a foot above waist height. It seems to give more control / less risk of losing grip on the razor.
Also when the strop was high I sometimes got aches in my arm muscles - not a good idea just before shaving.

I used to hang mine at shoulder height and found it quite comfortable. Then again I'd never tried anything else... until I started stropping at JoeD's place. Now I hang mine at waist level (doorknobs work quite well). This is another area where experimentation and personal preference come into play.
