Default SRD Hard Pressed Wool Felt w/ .5 Diamond

I recently broke down and purchased one of SRD's Hard pressed wool felt strops w/ the herringbone canvas. I also bought the .5 micron diamond spray. I plan on using it on the wool felt which seems to be made for it.
I was wondering if anyone else uses this medium if so:

    1. How many passes do you recommend. (I'd normally start with 10 and test.)

    2. How often do you need to re apply the spray. I did as the bottle told me to, and applied 2 light coats and let it dry overnight. I'm positive the bottle will probably last me a lifetime if one application lasts 6 months or more....Thanks in advance....

I got mine when they first came out after reading Bill S's review and because Lynn was enthusiastic about them. I love mine. I have applied the 0.5 as recommended and in the past few months haven't had to apply it again.

I do 10 to 20 laps and I have found that mparker762's recommendation to keep it taut and to use very light pressure (on any pasted hanger) is working very well for me.

My pretty white felt is turning black BTW.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks, I think I remember reading something Lynn said about using the hard wool and diamond spray, and I thought 10 strokes sounded right. Less is more, and it's easy to go overboard. You can always do more lapps if needed, but if you go to far, well, that's another story...

Well, I've been using the wool felt now for a week or so with the Diamond spray, and I'm very impressed with it. I had a couple of razors that were starting to pull and drag. I did 10 lapps on the wool felt and they're like new razors again...WoW...I'm very impressed with how well it works with so little effort. I'm surprised everyone doesn't use these.....Lynn's secret is out now.....!

I have been having a lot of fun with the felt strops since Keith first introduced them to me. At first I tried a Boron Carbide 2 micron paste on one side and chromium oxide on the other and it worked really well for getting those tough razors to there........

I have also recently been playing with the 2 micron diamond spray on one side and both .5 and .25 on the other with some really fun results. I really like the way the sprays work on the felts. It is dramatically different than the pastes on leather. It's like you can feel the change in personality when the edge is tested off both. I am finding it interesting too how some razors work better than others at both the .5 and .25 levels. I wish I had an explanation.......lol.

    So much to learn still............

Hmmmm, I had trouble with the .25 paste on the leather flatbead, so I went with the .50spray on the felt, so far, it's great. A marked improvement, the "velvet squegee as they say....
