    I was in your situation, not having neatsfoot oil, or anything like what is usually mentioned, for use with Chromium Oxide. I used Norton honing oil that I bought from Home Depot. The other oils typically mentioned might work better, and that would not surprise me. However, the "on the lighter side" honing oil works well as far as I can tell.
