    It feels plasticy right? I think all illinois are like that I think its impregnated with something.

    Yes, it definitely feels like it has some kind of finish on it or something. Very stiff and moving it in the light reveals a very minor gloss in the weave.

    IIRC the linen in Illinois strops are impregnated with abrasive agents ("pre-pasted" for the lifetime).
