    Default SRD Paddle stropping question

    Gents,

I just received my SRD Paddle strop. It is one beautiful piece. My question is when i strop(on a regular basis) due i just use the smooth leather side? or do i strop with the rough side first, then the smooth side? The reason im asking is that i just received several new razors all freshly honed and i do not want to ruin the hone with wrong stropping.

I don't have one of those beauties but a rule of thumb for stropping is always use the rough first if at all. With the newly honed razors you have the smooth alone may be fine. Just IMHO.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Maye be the rough side can be loaded with CrO or diamond spray, and the smooth used as a regular leather stop?

I have one. I use the rough leather side as you would any other linen, or canvas. it's just another stropping medium. Yes, it's safe to use on freshly honed razors. You can paste it or spray. Do the same rotation you would do on any other strop, I do 25/50 normally on a hanging strop. On the SRD Paddle, I do 12/50, a little different.
I didn't paste or spray the rough leather side, it was too nice, besides, I already have two other paddles I use for pastes...

Thats the paddle that I also have. I left the flesh side as is and used it that way for the first few weeks. But I've since treated the back side with CrOx and use that just every once in a while.
